Super Eagles and Olympic Marseille defender, Take Taiwo is back in the country after a brief visit to Fratton Park, London last week, Nigeriansportsonline.com can report. TaiwoÂ’s elder brother, Waheed revealed to Nigeriansportsonline.com that the former Lobi Stars left-full back sneaked into London last week where he had useful discussions with Portsmouth eggheads on a possible move to the Premiership in January.
According to him, the Olympic Marseille defender was invited by Portsmouth chieftains after his Super Eagles teammate, Nwankwo Kanu put in a word for him with PompeyÂ’s management.
“Taye Taiwo is back in the country from London and he is presently in Warri with Enakharire,” Waheed told Nigeriansportsonline.com.
“You know I told you last week that my brother went to London to discuss his possible move to Portsmouth, but now he has returned to Nigeria,” Waheed disclosed in a telephone interview with Nigeriansportsonline.com on Tuesday.
Although, the family source refused to divulge any further information on Taye TaiwoÂ’s secret talks with Portsmouth officials, Waheed maintained that he hopes to extract facts from Taye who is expected in Lagos this week.
“Taye is still enjoying the Yuletide season with his Super Eagles teammates in Warri with Enakharire and I can’t really say much on the outcome of his meeting with Portsmouth’s officials, but I’ll surely inform you when he returns to Lagos,” Waheed concluded.
