La presse anglaise (tabloids surtout) s'enflamme. Du coté de Chelsea est evoqué un possible echange Drogba - Eto o
If one of the nations leading tabloids has its facts right, we could be bidding goodbye to one of the African superstars and welcoming another.
It's being suggested that Scolari has sanctioned the sale of Didier Drogba but is keen to land Samuel Eto'o, from Barcelona.
Drogba's likely destination now being AC Milan with Milan having withdrawn from a proposed move to entice Arsenal's Adeybayor to Milan.
Any reservations relating to Eto'os salary demands of circa £160,000 seem to be instantly dismissed with the fact that a signing on fee and a loyalty bonus would be adequate compensation.
However, whilst admitting that Samuel Eto'o has the ability to be a more than adequate replacement for Didier Drogba, are we not in danger of becoming nothing more than a safe haven for Barcelona's cast-offs?
If I were to be practical about this I have to admit I'd much rather Scolari put a welcoming arm around Drogba, build his confidence up in a similar way that Mourinho did and take it from there.
We know that Drogba can do the business in the Premier League, his goals tally in the 2006-2007 season are testament to that but do we know if Eto'o has the guile, craft and ability to hit in excess of 25 goals in a season?
The quandary as I see it is massaging Drogba`s ego to return him to the status he held in 2006-2007 as opposed to fitting in a Premier League unknown in the shape of Samuel Eto`o
The Premier League can be a hard proving ground! _________________ <span style="font-family: courier new,courier,monospace; font-weight: bold; color: rgb(0, 102, 153);">OM Vista Votre forum sur l' OM !</span><br style="font-family: courier new,courier,monospace; font-weight: bold; color: rgb(0, 102, 153);"></a>
